ABOUT US

Welcome to the Don Rae Academy of Movement & Arts (D.R.A.M.A)

Founded in 2007 by Don Rae D.R.A.M.A was designed to reach out to the younger generation to communicate ideas and skills on a creative level. As an experienced performing arts teacher working across the U.K Don recognised the need for children to learn through movement and arts and has witnessed many great benefits and achievements from both individuals and groups. Our workshops exercise the students’ creativity as well as strengthening their confidence and social skills. D.R.A.M.A also encourages team building and promotes health and fitness. Our classes were also designed for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners to encourage learning academically, physically and artistically.

I’m Don Rae and I am the Creative Director of D.R.A.M.A. I graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Surrey and was a student at The B.R.I.T School with the likes of Leona Lewis and Amy Whinehouse. I wanted to bring the stage to schools sharing my ideas and experiences directly with the children. Being a male teacher I have successfully encouraged and motivated the male students in schools to participate in the arts and have been employed by schools to promote dance and drama especially for them. D.R.A.M.A is based in South West London and we have a number of talented teachers who are also professional performers. All of our teachers are CRB checked and have trained at prestigious stage schools such as Arts Ed, Doreen Bird and Central School of Speech and Drama. As you know it is a great reward to see the development of a child. For many children it would be the very first time they would have learned a specific dance or drama activity. When teaching a Year one class ‘Salsa’ it was a delight to see them learn the steps and the excite
ment in their faces after the workshop. We aim to continue providing fantastic workshops to schools, bringing inspiration and excitement to children of all ages and keeping our fees low and affordable for 2009.
